Long-term

The Nordic CCM project is to develop a Nordic Capacity Calculation Methodology (CCM) in line with the requirements laid down in the FCA GL, and a methodology for splitting of long term cross zonal capacity between different long-term time frames within the capacity calculation region.

Timeline of the Long-term CCM

  • January 16, 2019 – The Nordic TSOs submitted the LT CCM to the Nordic NRAs
  • May 15, 2019 – Nordic NRAs referred the LT CCM to ACER
  • October 30, 2019 – ACER decision to approve the Nordic LT CCM (Decision 16/2019)

Long-term implementation was started in the Nordics in the end of 2024 after the Flow-based day-ahead go-live.

In the scope of the long-term project is to implement both month-ahead and year-ahead level grid models and to provide Flow-based calculated capacity data to the stakeholders via the NUCS platform.

Target is to provide market participants with predictable and stable capacity values, enabling them to plan and hedge their positions effectively. This reduces uncertainty and enhances market confidence.
